KATANAs @ THE MASKED SINGER

Highly successful both locally and abroad, the reality TV project “The masked singer” Lithuania (translation: KAUKĖS) recently kicked off with season 3.

Kaukės is based on the Masked Singer franchise which originated from the South Korean version of the show King of Mask Singer. The first season premiered on LNK on 13^th  September 2020.

Extraordinary costumes and playful scenography make the show cheerful and super popular. A long-term partner of the show, the rental company Mex PRO, among other fixtures used 16 units of DTS Illuminazione Katanas to spice up the performances on stage.

About the Format

A group of celebrities compete anonymously on stage, singing in full costumes over a series of episodes. On each episode, part of the competitors is put up against each other into face-off competitions, where each will perform a song of his or her choice. After the showdown, the panelists vote: the winner is safe for the week, while the loser is put up for elimination. At the end of the episode, the defeated participants are subjected to new votes of the panelists so to determine who will not continue; the eliminated singer then enters the stage with their back turned to the camera, takes off its mask, and finally turns around to reveal his/her identity.

In addition to the singing competition, hints to each masked singer’s identity are offered throughout the show. Pre-recorded interviews are given as hints and feature the celebrities’ distorted voices. Moreover, the panelists are given time to speculate the identity of the singer after the performance and ask them a single question to try and determine their identity.
